Branimir Kvartuc is Stand Up Paddle Boarding across the Adriatic Sea Croatia's VRIME Magazine published the following story about Branimir's Stand Up Paddle adventure across the Adriatic Sea: This is the translated English version. Original Croatian version below: By Ivana Reljic If you have not heard of the new sport Stand Up Paddle Boarding, you will see it in Dalmacia this summer. Simply said, it is rowing while standing on a board similar to surfing. The promoter of the new sport on the Adriatic Sea, professional photographer, Branimir Kvartuc with Croatian-American roots has been paddling all summer in Dubrovnik waters. Tourists and locals watched in amazement as he made his way around the historic walled city and around the island of Lokrum. This summer, Branimir intends to expand his horizons on the sea: in late June he will paddle across the Adriatic 85 miles (150 km) from Venice, Italy to Pula, Croatia for a Humanitarian cause. "After beating cancer and going through chemotherapy treatment this winter, I wanted to give myself a task which would confirm that, 'what does not kill you makes you stronger,'" he said. "I want to prove to myself that nothing can slow me down! My adventure will be of a humanitarian nature. I want to thank this country and my countrymen who helped me in my healing and recovery." read more...branimirkvartuc.blogspot.com
